___________________________________________________________________
Terry Deshler is a Professor in the Department of Atmospheric Science of the College of Engineering at the University of Wyoming. Dr. Deshler’s interests are in completing measurements of aerosol and ozone that allow us to better characterize and understand the chemical and radiative balance of the atmosphere. His group has made and analyzed balloon-borne measurements of stratospheric aerosol and ozone in the mid latitudes and polar regions of both hemispheres for the past twenty years. More recent measurements include the tropics. These measurements help document the severe ozone loss observed above Antarctica, investigate polar stratospheric clouds in both hemispheres, measure mid latitude stratospheric and tropospheric aerosol, including the effects of major volcanic eruptions, and document tropical intrusions of tropospheric aerosol into the stratosphere. Dr. Deshler has published widely in these areas, author/co-author of over 100 refereed scientific publications, and has contributed to United Nations Environment Program publications: the UNEP/WMO - ozone assessment reports, and the WMO/WCRP/SPARC - Assessment of  Stratospheric Aerosol Properties.
